Radhanpur is the original estate of the Babis. The Babi family entered India along with Humayun and by the time of Akbar, they made Gujarat their home. One of them, Bahadur Khan Babi was made the manager of Tharad estate during the reign of Shah Jahan and his son Sher Khan Babi was sent to support the Mughal Armies under Murad Baksh, a son of Shah Jahan. He received the estate of Chunval in 1663 for his services. In 1693, his son Jafar Khan received the estates of Radhanpur, Sami, Munjpur and Terwada. He acted as the Deputy Governor of Patan and later, the Governor of Vijapur and Governor of Patan after that. By this time, Radhanpur formalized into an estate.
