The Phulkian states trace their origin, as like a majority of Punjab Jat Sikh states to Rawal Jesal of Jaisalmer. Because of a rebellion in Jaisalmer, Jesal (Kapurthala on the other hand says it’s a son of Jesal) fled towards Hissar where he settled. He had four sons - Salvahan, Kalan, Hemhel and Pem. Hemhel sacked Hissar during the reign of Altamash and plundered the territory till Delhi. He was appointed Governor of Sirsa and Bhatinda in 1212 and made Hansar his base. Manjalrab rebelled but was captured and beheaded. Khiwa is the last pure Rajput in the line - after his Rajput wife didn't give him any children, he married the daughter of Jat Zamindar of Neli. Because of this "impure" marriage, he was derided as Kot(alloy). His jealous Rajput wife got the boy substituted with a girl and got her thrown away. A passer by saw the boy and took him as his own son. But, the treachery was revealed and the boy was rescued. This boy, Sidhu is the ancestor of all Sidhu Jats. Of his successors, Burar is known for his fights against Jaid and Dhaliwal Jats and Muslim Bhattis of Sirsa. At the Battle of Kot Ladhoha against Chattarsal Rajputs, he won a pyrrhic victory. It was a part of a series of battles in which both sides lost heavily. Burar's eldest son Paur is the ancestor for Phulkians while Dhul is the ancestor for Faridkot and other states. The two brothers fought with each other and Puar was ejected from the estate by his brother and the line stayed in obscurity till the time of Sanghar.
