These small states forming the current district of Cuttack are ancient with all of them dating to the early days of Ganga rule in Puri and Cuttack. But on the other side, they acted as frontier posts for Cuttack. Consequently, they had nothing much of their own history to tell about and their history generally flowed along with the history of Kalinga.
