Soon after Chatrasal's death Muhammad Khan Bangash's army under Dalel Khan invaded Jaitpur and at the sanguinary Battle of Nadai, Jaitpur was defeated and Jagat Raj, seriously wounded, was rescued from the field. Unable to stop the attacks, Jagat Raj had to invite the Marathas again who broke the power of Muhammad Khan. Jagat Raj's son Pahar Singh siezed the throne and this resulted in a rebellion by the legitimate heir Guman Singh and his brother Khuman Singh, who were Jagat Raj's grandsons. Pahar Singh defeated the rebels at Supa and again at Kharela when the brothers attacked with the help of Awadh. Later, on his deathbed, fearful of another civil war, invited both the brothers and partitioned his kingdom among all the heirs. Guman Singh received Ajaigarh and Banda, Khuman Singh received Charkhari. Pahar Singh's son Gaj Singh received Jaitpur while another son of is, Man Singh received Sarila. However, before the successors took charge, a massive invasion force from Awadh under Karamat Khan and Himmat Bahadur advanced till Banda before it was stopped by the combined Bundela army and defeated at Mungas. Karamat Khan was killed and Himmat Bahadur retreat across Yamuna.
