Jaswan
Jaswan is considered to be the first offshoot of Kangra and was founded by a certain Purab Chand from a Katoch cadet line around 1170. Was it independent of Kangra or was it a Kangra estate which became independent during the Muslim invasions is not known.
By the time of Akbar, Jaswan was vassalized by the Mughals. When Jai Chand of Kangra was arrested and taken away by the Mughals, Gobind Chand of Jaswan held Kangra Fort for the Katoch and surrendered it only after favourable terms were offered to Jai Chand's son whose guardian he is. However, without affecting the takeover, the Mughal troops had to leave to face a new challenge in Punjab. Gobind Chand joined them and returned after some distance.
When Bidhi Chand rebelled against the Mughals, Gobind Chand's grandson Anirudh Chand joined him along with all the states between Chenab and Sutlej. After their submission, the kings were pardoned off. Jaswan rebelled again in 1594 but on hearing a Mughal army nearing them, they submitted.
