A bulk of these estates are handed over as a temporary estate in return for protecting the roads and similar services. In most of the cases, they received a sort of allowance from the suzerain – Indore and Gwalior. While a majority of them dealt with a suzerain like Gwalior, some of them like Barkhera Deo Dungri are guaranteed by the British.
